December 2023

A New Hire

I wanted to update you about a gift that we in Young Life received for Christmas this year. If you read any of our previous newsletters, you knew that we were looking to hire an administrator.

On December 1, we welcomed Mario Farkouh to our staff as our City Administrator. Mario is a film student at George Brown College and is in his fourth month in Canada, having moved here from Lebanon. Mario will be helping us with event planning, communication, promotion, and keeping us organized and on schedule. Welcome, Mario!

Gathering People Around the Mission

As 2023 closes, I'm grateful for the ways that the Young Life mission in Toronto continues to gain momentum and that the vision for Young Life in the city continues to draw people together. Take a look below at some of the pathways we are travelling and finding our way.

Connecting with People who Care about Teenagers in Toronto.

Fostering Community as we Train Leaders to Work with Young People

"Moving to a new country has been a real challenge for us, knowing that we have such a warm and welcoming community has helped this place feel like home." Trevor, a YL Leader Class participant, pictured with his wife and fellow class participant, Octavia.

Getting the Ball Rolling with Kids

As we continue to lay the groundwork for Young Life ministry, we are getting to know kids, showing up in their lives, and inviting them into relationships where they can experience belonging and community in the name of Jesus. We experienced this at our recent game night with Midtown/Don Valley kids and leaders in December.

Praying for Kids, Schools and Neighbourhoods

Young Life has always been grounded in prayer, ever since it began back in 1941. Edith (center), our staff member in Danforth/Upper Jarvis, has a weekly discipline of prayer walking: praying for teenagers, neighbourhoods, schools, families, and churches as she walks around the city of Toronto.
